Historical Note

Ralph W. Bonner was born on October 15, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. He recieved his BA degree in 1954 from Elmhurst College and a MSW degree in 1961 from Ohio State. He recieved a PhD from MSU in 1977. From 1965-1968 he was the executive director of the Greater Lansing Urban League and from 1968 to 1977 he was the Urban Programs Officer for the Michigan Department of Highways. He came to MSU in 1977 to serve as the Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Relations. In 1981 he also became a adjunct professor in the Department of Crimal Justice. Bonner retired in January 2000.
