Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the digital copy of the DVD "DHIA in America- A Foundation of Progress- 2005." The DVD is about the Dairy Herd Improvement Association also called Cow Testing Association. The DVD describes the first cow testing association in Newaygo County, Michigan. People of note are Helmer Rabild and Henry Rozema. The DVD was created by Ted Ferris of the Department of Animal Science at Michigan State University. Ferris used collection Newaygo Dairy Herd Improvement Association records (c.00337) for research on this DVD.

Biographical Note

Theodore Allen Ferris was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on May 27, 1949. He received a B.S. in Animal Industry from Pennsylvania State University in 1971, a M.S. in Dairy Science (1971), and a Ph.D. in Dairy Cattle Breeding and Genetics (1981) from Michigan State University. He was hired by the Department of Animal Science at MSU as a professor in 1981.
