Scope and Contents
The records of the School of Journalism include conference proceedings, syllabi, historical summaries, Michigan Interscholastic Press Association newsletters and conference programs, program brochures, and “Third World Genesis” a newspaper from a 1973 journalism workshop.

Historical Note
The first journalism course was taught at MSU in 1910. In 1929 the Department of Journalism and Publications was created. In 1942 the Publications Department and the Journalism Department separate. In 1955 the Journalism Department became the School of Journalism. In 1982 MSU acts as host to the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association after it moves from Central Michigan University.
