Historical Note

The Office of Evaluation Services originated as the Michigan State University Board of Examiners and Basic College Counseling (1944-1952). This Board administered orientation examinations, comprehensive examinations for core courses in the Basic College, and provided academic counseling. In 1952, it became the Board of Examiners with primary emphasis placed on evaluation services. The Board of Examiners became Evaluations Services in 1956, and was called by this name until 1975 when it was combined with Learning Services to form Learning and Evaluation Services.
