Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the unpublished annual reports (1964-1969) of the Computer Institute for Social Science Research which contain information on research projects, grants, funding, and activities. Also included in the collection is a serial, Computer Institute for Social Science Research Technical Report. The MERIT file consists of original grant proposals, newspaper clippings, and correspondence documenting the establishment of the Michigan Education Research and Information triad (MERIT) computer network, 1970-1979. The primary correspondent is Professor Charles Wrigley, director of the Computer Institute for Social Science Research who coordinated the establishment of the MERIT system at Michigan State University (MSU). The triad consists of MSU, University of Michigan, and Wayne State University.
