Scope and Contents

This collection contains a detailed contract between Moses P. Breckenridge, John Dribble, and N. J. Taylor, all of Westfield, Massachusetts. The contract specifies the type and size of house Dribble and Taylor were to build for Breckenridge. The collection also contains several of Breckenridge's receipts and a telegram notifying him of a relative's death (1864).

Biographical/Historical

Moses P. Breckenridge was born around 1832 and lived in Westfield, Massachusetts. He was married to Lucretia Wetherell. His son, Lester Paige Breckenridge, was a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) from 1891 to 1893.
