Biographical Note

Paul Joseph Rood was born January 29, 1893 in Covert, Van Buren County, Michigan. He earned a B.S. (1916), and a M.S. (1923) from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University). He taught vocational agriculture in various places in Michigan in the 1910s and 1920s. In 1930, he was hired as an extension specialist in soil science at Michigan State College. He retired in 1958.

Rood was married twice. He married Alice Enlow in January 1915, and they divorced in January 1925. He married Edna Marie Anderson (May 8, 1896 - February 28, 1974) on September 11, 1926. Rood had six children: Phyllis, Paul, Ann, Charlotte, John, and Richard. He died July 10, 1972 in Lansing, Michigan
