Scope and Contents
The Juana and Jesse Gonzales papers (1949-2000) contain reports, newsletters, reprints, unpublished papers and news clippings collected by Jesse and Juana Gonzales since the late 1960s through 2006. A significant part of the collection dates from the mid-1960s through the mid-1980s relating to Chicano student activism on campuses, Chicanos and Latinos in the arts, and materials on the history of Chicanos and Latinos in Michigan including agricultural labor and migrant workers. Included in the collection is an oral history with Mr. Gonzales conducted by students in MSU American Studies 881 in 2007.

This folder includes a program booklet Celebrating over a decade of TRIO program services to students dated May 11, 1984. Added November 21, 2017: Correspondence from ChiSPA President Baltazar Salazar to President Mackey, Ira Polley office of Admission, Gary North, Residence Life Director,and Representative George Cushingberry regarding exclusion of Detroit area Latino counselors and administrators to a "minority" program to recruit and retain minority students by the Office of Admissions and Scholarships, The of the Provost and the Office of Supportive Services. Also included is a facsimile of the event program held January 1980 and a Report to the Provost from the Committee on Supportive Services titled "Supportive Services for Minority Students and Students from Disadvantaged Backgrounds, 1979"
