La Raza Unida Party scrapbook

 File — Box: 4
Identifier: Series 5

Scope and Contents

One oversized scrapbook of newspaper clippings, broadsides and political decals pertaining to La Raza Unida Party (LRUP) and its activities in Crystal City and Zavala County Texas from ca. 1970-1977. Many of the news articles are on José Angel Gutierrez, a co-founder and leader in LRUP. Political decals of note include O. Zeta Acosta, a Chicano author, politician and attorney/activist in the Chicano movement. Unfortunately over time as Gilberto Martinez loaned the scrap book to people, many clippings disappeared.

Bylines include Richard G. Santos writing a series on the Battle of the Alamo.
