The text on the back of the photograph reads "American Japanese Family Returns to Southern California. Poston, Ariz., --January, 1945, was a memorable time in the lives of American Japanese Mr. and Mrs. Shosuki Nitta. With their son, Hitoshi, his wife, Mary, and their 10-months-old son, Hitoshi, his wife, Mary, and their 10-months-old son, Hitoshi Alan Jr., they returned from the Poston, Ariz., war relocation center to their Santa Ana, Calif., [home] after being evacuated from the Pacific Coast for two and half years. Next, another son, Mitsuo, became a lieutenant in the Army. Lastly, a third son, Minoru, working in a Cleveland, Ohio, defense plant, became a father. Here is a picture story (photos #25162-63-64-65-66) of the return of part of the family to Southern California. Photo Shows: Duncan Mills (second from right), director of the Poston relocation center, bidding farewell to the Nitta family, who are shown about to start their return trip to Santa Ana, Calif., afte restrictions in the area were lifted against return of the Japanese.
