Scope and Contents
Photographs in this collection include those of activists involved with the United Farm Workers union including Cesar E. Chavez and Dolores Huerta, La Raza Unida party of Colorado and of Young Lords and Latin Kings member Jose Cha Cha Jimenez. Musicians and actors are also included. They include photos of the Fania All-Stars, a group of Puerto Rican musicians featured in the film "Our Latin Thing" and early photos of Ramon Novarre, lead actor in the 1925 film "Ben Hur."

Abstract
Alan Pogue (Texas Center for Documentary Photography, Austin Texas) is known for his black and white thematic photographs portraying activists and social justice issues in the US and abroad. His work includes biographic stills of well-known activists and public figures. Pogue’s photographs include Cesar E. Chavez, Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers (UFW), Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), and agricultural work and workers in Michigan, Texas and the Midwest. Included in this collection are Pogue’s documentary images from 1979 – 2005.
