Scope and Contents
The New American Movement collection consists of programs, correspondence, memoranda, resolutions, chapter reports, and notes relating to the Detroit and Chicago chapters of NAM. The collection contains the agendas of the organization's several committees, conventions, and conferences as collected by member and leader Saul Wellman. The collection also contains several promotional documents for NAM and allied organizations, such as leftist politicians and institutions like the American Civil Liberties Union and the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee. The collection also contains lobbying materials and plans for initiatives such as healthcare and education reform.
