Scope and Contents
This collection of calendar art consists of materials acquired as a purchase by the MSU Libraries or items separated from the papers of Juana and Jesse Gonzales, Julio Cesar Guerrero and Pedro and Diana Rivera. The items in the collection are as early as 1972 and the bulk in the first decade of 2000.

Mexico City, Mexico: Calendario Cypsa, one page, 24 x 52 cm., color. 2011 calendar for Supermercado La Estrellita, Lansing, MI. Top half has color reproduction of painting, “Centeotl” by Maurice DeVaux with two girls with black hair, white blouses, and kneeling in foreground making tortillas and other traditional foods. Upper right side includes pre-Columbian scene of praying women at Aztec monument while others grind corn at straw huts. Below the image is store contact information and available items, small six-page tear off calendar that includes feast names. Store managed by the Sarmiento Rojano family.
