Scope and Contents
The Wearing Gay History collection consist of approximately 3.5 linear feet of material dating approximately from 1972 to 2019. The collection includes T-shirts, research conducted by students in relation to the T-shirts, including correspondence and interviews, and publications related to the project.

Biographical / Historical
SEMGLA (South East Michigan Gay and Lesbian Association) was formed in 1975 as the Association of Suburban People as a social and political organization for residents of Detroit’s surrounding suburbs. The group changed its name to South East Michigan Gay and Lesbian Association in late 1985, and then folded three years later.
