Biographical / Historical
Felice Picano (1944-) is a writer, editor, and publisher. In 1977 Picano founded Sea Horse Press, a publisher focused on gay writings, and in 1980 he combined Sea Horse Press, Calamus Books, the JH Press to form Gay Presses of New York.
The letter addressed to British-American author and editor Winston Leyland, mentions a meeting between gay newspapers and magazines where they agreed to form a Gay Press Association. The context of the letter is a reviewed copy of the book 'A True likeness: lesbian and gay writing today,' edited by Picano.
