Biographical / Historical

The Changing Men Collections grew from an initial donation by Art Stawinski in 1990 of materials by the National Organization for Changing Men (NOCM) and grew to incorporate material on father's rights, mythopoetic men's movement, and the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS). Other organizations represented include the Chicago Men's Gathering, National Conferences on Men and Masculinity, Berkeley Men's Center, Men Sharing (Boston), Knoxville Men's Resource Center, The Nuturant Male, and Vietnam Vets Against the War, as well as documentation on the Radical Faeries. Edward Read Barton became volunteer curator of the Changing Men Collections in 1991 until 2016.

Changing Men Collections Vertical Files (CMVR) are files of miscellaneous clipping, flyers, brochures, and articles on the various file titles. There are currently over 260 catalogues CMVFs. There are over 350 catalogues newsletters and magazines of the various branches of the contemporary men’s movement worldwide. The Men’s Studies Bibliography formerly at MIT is now housed in Changing Men Archive under the call number MSS227 and a copy of the index is also linked to the CMC web page
