Scope and Contents

The collection includes documents from the Philadelphia-based group, United People's Campaign Against Apartheid and Racism (UPCAAR) from the late 1970s and 1980s. There are also political buttons from a number of organizations in Philadelphia, Oregon, Barcelona, among other locations. There are also programs from a concert at Harvard and from the American Film Festival.

Biographical / Historical

Cornelius Moore has been involved with Africa-related issues since the early 1970s. In Philadelphia, he worked with the African Liberation Support Committee in 1974-75 and with the United People's Campaign Against Apartheid and Racism (UPCAAR) beginning in the late 1970s. Cornelius Moore is currently the Co-Director of California Newsreel, the non-profit film distributor and producer that focuses on race, African American life and history, Africa and health and society.
