Biographical / Historical
Thomas Francis McGuane III (b. 1939) was born in Wyandotte, Michigan. His work includes novels, short fiction and screenplays, as well as three collections of essays devoted to his life in the outdoors. He attended Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, MI and Michigan State University (MSU). While at MSU he met another Michigan writer, Jim Harrison.

The collection is arranged by correspondence and general papers and then by novel and screenplay if there is one in basically a chronological order of writing.

The collection was acquired in 1992 and 1994. A few items date later than that.
