Scope and Contents
The Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid legal documents and newspaper clippings consists of newspaper clippings and legal documents about the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid. The clippings conern the protests of the tour of the South African Springboks rugby team. Most of the clippings originate from Albany and New York City and focus on the U.S. tour with the remaining clippings describing earlier protests to the Springboks playing in New Zealand. The team was scheduled to play in Chicago, New York City, and Albany, New York in September 1981. The legal documents relate to a court case that Michael Dollard and other members of the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid brought against the FBI and City of Albany employees for improper use of a search warrant. All of the materials are dated 1981.

Biographical / Historical
Michael J. Dollard was chair of the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid, an organization located in Albany, New York, and created to protest the South African Springbok rugby tour. The Capital Area Coalition Against Apartheid was one of about one hundred organizations in the Stop Apartheid Rugby Tour (SART) coalition.
