Scope and Contents
The Lou Pitschmann bookmark collection is a vast collection of primarily bookmarks, primarily from the 1980s-early 2000s. Some stand out bookmarks include items made from woods and leather, bookmarks featuring fragments of the Berlin Wall, with topics ranging from promotional bookmarks on new books, literacy, libraries and library services/vendors, book stores, and feature comics characters, animals, and literary personalities.

Biographical / Historical
Librarian Dr. Lou Pitschmann accumulated an impressive collection of bookmarks over a span of several decades. In addition to collecting them through his library work venues, he also received many bookmarks from Smithsonian Rare Book librarian and friend Ellen Wells.
