Scope and Contents

The Kristina Ford papers contain multiple edited drafts of "The Trouble with City Planning," with annotations from her husband, author Richard Ford. Also included is a Michigan State University Spring 2018 commencement program and transcript of Ford's speech given during the graduation ceremony. Also included in the collection are two videocassettes: "City Planning Commission Overview Presentation" and Interview on WDSU, 1/9/00.

Biographical / Historical

Kristina Ford was the city planner of New Orleans from 1992 until 2000. Married to the author Richard Ford, Kristina has written two books, "Planning Small Town America," published in 1990, and "The Trouble with City Planning," published in 2010.

In 2016, Ford was awarded an honorary doctorate in humanities from Michigan State University. She also spoke at the MSU commencement, and a copy of that speech is contained in this collection.
