Biographical / Historical

The Tamer Institute for Community Education is a non-governmental organization which promotes children's literacy in Palestine. The Tamer Institute publishes children's books, runs a network of children's libraries, and organizes reading campaigns, such as Read to Me Baba (dad) and National Reading Campaign. The Tamer Institute was founded in 1989 and in 2009 received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.

The collection was acquired by Deborah Margolis, MSU Middle East Studies Librarian, in the summers of 2015 and 2019 from the Tamer Institute for Community Education in Ramallah, Palestine.
