Selma Hollander recipe book
Scope and Contents
The Selma Hollander recipe book is a 3-ring binder of dessert recipes written, taped, or laid into an art and literature notebook. Recipes represent popular mid-20th century American desserts such as cakes, bars, breads, and muffins. Art and literature notes appear to be written and typed class notes with occasional ink sketches analyzing artistic form, genre, and particular artists' distinguishing features.

Biographical / Historical
Selma Hollander (1917-2018) was a consumate champion of the arts and intellectual life at Michigan State University. Before marrying Stanley Hollander in 1956, she built a career in the U. S. Post Office as secretary to the Brooklyn Post Master. Stan Hollander joined the faculty of business of Michigan State University in 1958. Selma Hollander earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degree at Michigan State, excelling in fabric collage, serigraphy, weaving, and jewelry sculpture and taught courses on and off campus. The Hollanders attended and supported numerous cultural, artistic, and intellectual activities at Michigan State and throughout the country.
