Biographical / Historical
Kumiko Makino-Yamashita is a researcher in the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO), who is interested in politics in South Africa in the post-apartheid era. Her particular interest lies in the study of civil society and social movements and their relationship to public policy development. Her research on the anti-apartheid movement in Japan is reflected in this collection, which she researched as a part of the history of anti-apartheid international solidarity.
