Scope and Contents
MSU's collection of science fiction fan club newsletters includes material from 45 clubs. One-half were (or are) clubs based in a particular city or region and one-quarter on university campuses. The remaining clubs had membership across the country, often focused on a sub-genre such as science fiction poetry.

Biographical / Historical
Science fiction fan clubs in the U.S. date back to 1930, a few years after the magazine Amazing Stories (the first pulp magazine focused on science fiction) began publication.
