Clark family papers

Scope and Contents This collection consists primarily of correspondence and account books. The letters, which span ninety years, are between members of the Wall, Clark and Handy families. The bulk of the letters are from Hannah Wall Handy to her sister Abigail, who married Charles Clark. The Clarks moved to Grand Haven, Michigan, from Maine in the 1850s. Jonathan Fox collection

Scope and Contents of the Papers

This collection consists of a ledger kept by Jonathan Fox of Genesee County, New York. The earliest entries record the sale of cloth and costs of tailoring work, which may have been done by Fox. The ledger also records household expenses, some brief genealogical notes, and several poems, perhaps written by Fox's wife.

Joseph Foster account book

This collection consists of the account book (1907-1925) of Joseph Foster of Ithaca, Michigan. Foster worked as a day laborer, but apparently rented or owned a farm as well. He used the book to record a variety of things: his earnings from day labor, contributions toward his pastor's salary, his savings bonds in local banks, and accounts from his own farm.
