The collection consists of the 1970 essay "A Thesis of Protest," by Kamuyu-wa-Kang'ethe, a Michigan State University anthropology student, which he wrote instead of his master's thesis. It decries western education, anthropology, and demands acceptance of African institutions as equal to European.
Kinton B. Stevens collection
The Kinton B. Stevens collection contains photographs of Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University) campus life in the early 1900s. Included are photographs of M.A.C.'s baseball, basketball, football, tennis, and track teams as well as early campus buildings and active student life.

Michigan State University 1970 Student Strike records
The records consist of materials related to student demonstrations and strikes in May 1970. Topics of the protests included ROTC, and the war in Vietnam. Materials include newspaper clippings, copies of student flyers, as well as press releases. There are also copies of typewritten notes of timeline of events, damage to buildings, and class attendance. There is also a flyer about Bobby Seale in the Bulletins and Announcements folder.
