Benjamin M. Harman papers

Harman records in the two diaries the day-to-day activities of a soldier, including meals, marches, a trip on a schooner, illnesses, skirmishes, and his income and expenses. The diaries span the dates December 21, 1861 to May 27, 1863, the day that he was killed in battle at Port Hudson, Louisiana.
The other papers are photocopies of muster rolls for Harman (1861-1863) and correspondence (1881-1888) by his mother and relatives trying to secure his pension for his mother.

The bulk of the C. G. Robinson papers consists of the originals plus photocopies of Robinson's diaries, 1884-1890 and 1892-1895. Robinson recorded the weather daily, and he described his daily chores and seasonal activities, such as cider pressing in autumn and "sugaring off" in spring. The collection contains diaries (1891-1916), journals (1858-1869), and an account book (1859-1861) of Charles Hutchinson Thompson (1838-1916), a clerk in the State offices in Lansing, Michigan.
