This collection consists primarily of letters from Alanson Royce to his family, describing his farm in New Buffalo, Michigan, and his migration to Mornington, Missouri, where he also farmed. In his letters home Royce discusses Missouri's economy and agricultural prospects, as well as education and social conditions. There are very few references to slavery. Royce farmed in Missouri until 1862, when his pro-Union views angered local Confederate sympathizers and forced him to flee to Illinois....

Papers of Albert A. Crane consist of a diary (1872) and two letters between Madison Kuhn and Mrs. Neil Smith, niece of Albert Crane. Letters contain some biographical information. Diary discusses campus life, course work, and family life in Lyons, Michigan. Includes homework assignments, personal accounts, quotations, and a record of work done for the college.

The papers consist of one 1911 letter from Reverend William Lytteil of Brier, Michigan, to Albert B. Graham. In the letter Lytteil gives the origins and history of the name Graham. The bulk of the collection consists of diaries, correspondence, memoranda, notes, clippings, scrapbooks which pertains to Albert Riedel's trip to Singapore trip the work he did as a representative of the International Eexecutive Service Corps. Riedel's papers also contain personal correspondence (1967-1974) with Foo Chee Chin of Singapore and a scrapbook of some of Riedel's speeches (1925-1960).
