Scope and Contents

A collection of posters from and about Africa from the 1960s onwards, including many of anti-apartheid movements and national liberation movements, on African elections in such countries as South Africa (1994- ), Malawi, and Ethiopia. Includes posters on diverse subejcts such as health and AIDS, women's rights, culture, sports, education, and of community organizations and MSU African Studies Center, and some movie posters.

The Alberto Flores collection on the Michigan Hispanic Senior Citizens Coalition (MHSCC) contains correspondence, meeting notes and agendas, photos, news clips, and fliers from Flores’ work with the Michigan Hispanic Senior Citizens Coalition (MHSCC). Series I has been inventoried as of 2016. Series II is part of a growing collection and was added in 2017.

Celebrate people's history posters collection

Topics covered include trans rights, Chicano rights and history, the labor movement, art history, women's history, and anarchist history. The collection contains nine 8 x 10 inch gelatin silver prints taken by Jack Ramsdell of the St. Petersburg Times documenting freedom riders, Francis Randall and Ralph Diamond, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Only two of the photograps were published - one in the St. Petersburg Times and one in the paper's online history.

James Zarichny attended Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) and was placed on disciplinary probation for being involved in the American Youth for Democracy (AYD) organization. The AYD had applied to be a recognized student organization but was denied.
