Alton Wheaton papers

Scope and Contents

The Alton Wheaton papers contain primarily financial records and other forms of inventory that Wheaton took while working on his farm. There is also a small section on some of Wheaton’s community activities, some photographs of said activities, and two books on the Wheaton family genealogy. There are also a number of folders containing deeds and titles to various pieces of land Wheaton owned. There are also catalogs, plans, newsletters and brochures on farm topics.

Charles Hutchinson Thompson papers

Scope and Contents The collection contains diaries (1891-1916), journals (1858-1869), and an account book (1859-1861) of Charles Hutchinson Thompson (1838-1916), a clerk in the State offices in Lansing, Michigan. Born in LeRoy, New York, he visited Michigan in 1845-1847 and returned to Orleans County, New York, where he attended school and held various jobs. J. M. York journal

The collection consists of a journal that belonged to John M. York who owned a general store in Ionia County, Michigan. The journal dates mostly from 1899 to 1901 with a portion dating from 1922. Also within the journal are the recordings of 1913 auction sales by George Kelner. This journal may be connected with the ledger in another collection (c.00524); both were found in the home of Ludwig C. Winters by the donor.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of correspondence, papers, and books of Joseph and Richard M. Hoar. The Mssrs. Hoar were brothers, born in England in the early nineteenth century. Joseph emigrated to the United States first (the exact date is unknown), and entered the general merchandise business in Houghton (Houghton County), Michigan. Richard M.
