Scope and Contents

The papers of Arthur W. Farrall consist of correspondence, class materials, research materials and lectures, and have been arranged chronologically. Farrall's contribution and work with the American Society of Agricultural Engineers closes out the papers as it is the common thread that ties together the entire collection, and all of Farrall's work.

This collection contains notes made by Bill Taylor from a 1964 interview with H. J. Karn, in which Karn discusses his working experience in the Lansing plant of the REO Motor Car Company during the years 1906-1916. Also included is a REO Company brochure describing a 1910 record-breaking transcontinental trip from New York to San Francisco in a REO car. The collection includes a photograph of the REO bus that traveled across the country in 1920.

This collection consists mainly of publications credited to Leroy S. Foltz over his distinguished career. Also included is personal correspondence between Foltz and organizations in which he was a member, and correspondence with John Hannah, president of Michigan State College (now Michigan State University), as well as newspaper clippings, talks given on education by Foltz and letters to the editor of various newspapers.

Scope and Content The Ransom E. Olds papers are divided into two sections. The first section consists of Olds' personal papers. Included in this section are Olds' love letters to Metta Woodward (June 6, 1864-September 2, 1950), whom Olds married in 1899, Olds' philanthropic activities, his daybooks and two journals of the Olds family trip to Europe.
