This collection contains various documents relating to the Clark Family, especially Josephus Clark, of Branch County, Michigan. It includes tax receipts, deeds, marriage certificates, Josephus Clark's Civil War discharge, and materials dealing with his military pension.

Scope and Contents The bulk of the collection contains material relating to the issues that interested Hill most as a teacher and researcher. He taught a number of courses on farm appraisal and agricultural finance, and his reference material appears here. The Haight family papers consist of correspondence, legal notices, pedigrees and stock registers. The Haights owned pedigreed cattle and also raised sheep. In addition, the collection contains legal notices relating to proposed improvements on Haight land in California Township, Branch County, Michigan.

The collection contains a photocopy of Scofield's "Autobiography of a Pioneer Minister from 1823 to 1898," which was completed when he was seventy-five years old. In the autobiography, Scofield quotes from his own diary which he kept from about 1860 (see page 47). For the period preceding 1860, his narrative is based on recollection.

In addition to the autobiography, the collection contains a genealogical record for the Scofield family.

Scope and Contents The collection contains thirteen small diaries (1883-1897) of Milton Lehr, a farmer and school teacher in Sherwood, Branch County, Michigan. The 1884 volume entries from August to November describe a trip to the West Coast. While in the West, Lehr worked on sheep ranches and potato farms.
