The collection consists of architectural project files and site development project files for Carl Johnson and his firm Johnson, Johnson, and Roy (JJR) of Ann Arbor, Michigan as well as the other architectural firms where Carl Johnson worked.

Scope and Contents The Edward G. Granger Papers consist of a diary and scrapbook created by Granger, as well as Civil War letters written during Granger’s enlistment in the Union Army, portraits, and newspaper clippings regarding the extended family. Included within the diary, the first portion (November 29, 1858 – February 20, 1859) was written while Granger was attending Michigan Agricultural College, and discusses classes, work assignments, daily routine, and recreation. Scope and Contents of the Papers The James Taylor papers include correspondence, receipts, and other materials dealing with his business and personal activities. Throughout the correspondence there are numerous letters concerning education, particularly at the college level. One letter, dated February 26, 1865 gives a good account of academic life at the University of Michigan. The collection also contains personal correspondence about life in general. The Michael B. Pate collection contains one photocopied account of Pate's trip aboard the Ann Arbor Railroad in July 1989. His account begins in Owosso and ends in Elberta, Michigan.

This collection contains an inventory of farm machinery exhibited at the First and Second Annual Fairs of the Michigan State Agricultural Society in Detroit in 1849 and Ann Arbor in 1850. Also included is a membership card for Stephen Eldred dated 1854.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of the transcription of a journal kept by Munnis Kenny (1788-1862) during a trip from Putney, Vermont, to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1828. Kenny recorded his impressions of the trip, the country he traveled through, and the people he met. The journal was transcribed by Kathryn Sorenson in 1964; she included explanatory notes, maps of the areas through which Kenny traveled, and a biographical sketch of Kenny.
