This collection consists of photocopies of Monroe family military documents including Norton M. Monroe's discharge papers (December 1863), a pension form for Norton M. Monroe from November 1918, a claim for settlement of unused leave form for Maurice F. Monroe, circa 1946. There is also a copy of a handwritten land tax form for Hiram Hardy from 1867.

Scope and Contents This collection contains four Civil War letters and a small diary of Josiah B. Smith, kept during his service as a bugler in the 8th Michigan Cavalry in Tennessee and Kentucky. The letters were written to Josiah's wife, Mary A. Smith. In the diary, Josiah writes about daily duties in camp, his letter writing schedule, and the condition of his health. William H. Doxtader collection

The collection consists primarily of family Civil War records and a photocopied history of the 36th Indiana Infantry. Albert and Daniel Doxtader both served in that regiment. Philander Doxtader served in the 115th New York Regiment.
