Scope and Contents The bulk of the collection consists of 22 letters from Sgt. Donald M. Dewar, stationed with the United States Air Force in the Netherlands East Indies, to his mother, Jennie (Mrs. Neil A.) Dewar and sister Marion in Flint, Michigan, in 1944 and 1945. This collection includes seventy six post cards that depict pictures of a variety of local and national topics. The topics include businesses, farming/agricultural tools, historic events, war, military, music, festivals, ceremonies, Native Americans, presidents, senators, governors, the University of Michigan, saw mills, logging, and transportation. It appears that Harry C. Hill, of Flint, Michigan, is the creator of most of the postcards.

Scope and Contents The four letters were written by Manly Miles to his brother, Isaac. Three dated 1848 were written while he was at Western Reserve College, and the fourth, dated 1850, while he attended Rush Medical College. Typewritten copies are included for each.
