Scope and Contents The Thompson collection consists of 1,866 glass plate negatives and three lantern slides. There are also 573 contact prints in the collection of which 494 are from the plates. Some of the prints are 8x10 inches and others are 3 ½ inch squares. The prints of the 3 ½ inch images are noted in the finding aid with the notation “(print available) 3 ½.” A list of the 8x10 inch prints can be found at the end of the finding aid. This collection contains photographs and negatives of buildings, some during construction, at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) taken by Harold J. McGarvey. There are also photographs and negatives of what appears to be the East Lansing area.

The East Lansing Kiwanis Club records consist of general correspondence (1957-1971), weekly news bulletins (1955-1987), financial records (1956-1964; 1967-1970), and materials relating to the club's 20th Anniversary (1970) and to the projects listed above. Other materials include booklets and printed material on Kiwanis international, reports and convention programs of the Michigan district, and a scrapbook.
