Scope and Content
The records consist of status report on the cyclotron project, a test operation report, and a letter from Alan T. Waterman to MSU President Hannah awarding a National Science Foundation grant for the cyclotron. Also included are brochures, reports, the 2005 grant proposal “Operation of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at MSU Proposal as a National User Facility and Support for its Research Program” and the publication prepared for use with Michigan legislators and citizens presenting MSU’s case for the $1 billion Rare Isotope Accelerator Project (Advancing the Frontiers of Science). Also included are photographs of the Cyclotron building.
Also included are specification drawings for the mechanical equipment of the K50 MEV accelerator which was the original research accelerator at the cyclotron. The drawings are organized by categories represented by codes and then arranged by size. The index for the drawings defines the codes and then lists the drawings for each category. There are a few drawings listed that were not transferred to the MSU Archives.
