Awards and Membership Certificates, 1921, 1930, 1932, 1933, 1942
Scope and Contents
The papers document Dye's professional life and reflect her interest in Nutrition research, the teaching of Home Economics at the college level, and women's changing roles in contemporary American society. Included are speeches and manuscripts written by Dye, records relating to the College of Home Economics (later called Human Ecology), correspondence, notes, journal reprints, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia. The records relating to the College of Home Economics consist primarily of fragments of her office files which remained with the official records of the college. Her correspondence discusses employment offers, awards, gifts to the university, and a manuscript entitled "History of Home Economics at the University of Chicago," which she wrote during her retirement. The journal reprints relate to research in Home Economics, particularly in Nutrition, while the newspaper clippings generally report on her colleagues at Michigan State University or Dye herself.
