Charles H. Gorsuch papers
Scope and Contents
These papers contain military records (1861-1866) of Captain Charles H. Gorsuch, who commanded Company K, 38th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. The records include clothing and equipment inventories, invoices for ordinance and ordinance stores, and equipment depositions. Also included are correspondence, legal documents and receipts relating to Gorsuch's involvement in farming and in business activities after the war in Ohio and then in Waldron, Hillsdale County, Michigan.

Biographical Note
During the Civil War, Charles H. Gorsuch commanded Company K, 28th Ohio Infantry. He later ran a general store in Waldron, Hillsdale County, Michigan, with his brothers and later his sons. Gorsuch also was a Justice of the Peace.
