Scope and Contents

The George E. Parsons collection consists of a wide range of documents related to the dairy industry and Michigan State College (now Michigan State University). The collection has newspaper clippings discussing Parsons' accomplishments as well as other events in the world of dairy, a binder with in-depth information about the "Better Milking Clinic" that Parsons led, as well as a small group of agricultural photos. There is an Alpha Zeta fraternity pamphlet, and "A Short History of Okemos" by Mrs. Ralph Stillman written in 1956. Of note is Parsons' own "Recollections", an autobiography, as well as a family history, written by George Parsons in 1992.

Historical Note

George Parsons was an Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) student and graduated in 1931. Parsons was a high school teacher and then moved on to be a part of the Michigan State University Agricultural Extension Service from which he retired as the Director of Dairy Extension in 1974.
