Scope and Contents

This collection contains Big Ten Men’s Swimming programs and Michigan State University Men Varsity swimming record times for various meets from 1941 to 1954, and a summary of the 1969 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Relays. There are also programs from 1997 to 2009 for the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams.

Historical Note

The first Varsity swim team at Michigan State University was formed in 1922 under Southard F. Flynn. The major era of swimming at MSU began in the 1940s after the new pool in Jenison Field House opened. Now, there is an Olympic sized pool at IM West where in 1959 the U.S. time trials for the Pan American games were held.
