Scope and Contents

The collection contains materials related to the dairy industry and includes the booklet “A History of Dairying in Michigan” by P. S. Lucas. The collection also contains the booklet “History of Dairy Development at Michigan State College.” The booklet seems to have been produced for the dedication of the new dairy cattle barns in 1929 and an invitation and program were inserted in the back of the booklet. There is also a folder with a historical review (1955-1972) of the Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation and a history of the Michigan Allied Dairy Association from 1885 to 1936. Also included is a brief history of Michigan State College up until 1861 that was written by college President Theophilus Capen Abbot. The photographs in the collection are group portraits of members of various dairy short courses from 1956 to 1965. Some photographs also have a list of whom is in the image.
