Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials from R. Keith Hudson and his wife, Lois. Hudson's materials include newspaper clippings, campus maps, two aerial photographs of campus, and a plat map of the Kellogg Reforestation Tract with labels of types of trees. Lois' materials include a 1941 menur from the Hotel Olds, a football ticket dated October 24, 1942, a basketball program dated January 10, 1941 and newspaper clippings about Michigan State University buildings and Eleanor Roosevelt's visit to campus in 1940.

Biographical Note

Robert Keith Hudson (known as R. Keith) was born August 15, 1914 to Beulah L. Hudson and Aleda A. Gallander in Wyanet, Illinois. Hudson graduated from Wyanet High School in 1932, earned his B.S. (June 1945), M.S. (December 1945) and his Ph.D. (1957) at Michigan State University.

He began his academic career at Michigan State College (now MSU) as a graduate assistant in 1944. He was appointed instructor in Forestry in 1949. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1949 and to associate professor in 1972.

He was a member of the Society of American Foresters, Michigan Academy of Science, Xi Sigma Pi, and Sigma Xi.

He married Lois L. Burley and they had two daughters. He died on January 4, 1973.
