The Saline Valley Farm was founded in 1932 by Harold Grey. Grey initially purchased 650 acres of land and began to develop a cooperative farm, which eventually had as many as 20 families working and living together. This farm had numerous different industries and facilities that were supported by the farm’s community. This includes homesteads, utility buildings, orchards, farm land, livestock, poultry, and a food processing plant. The Saline Valley Farms’ organization was also very democratic and included a board of directors to oversee various aspects of the farm’s activities. The members of this board were either selected by Grey himself, or they were voted into the position by the rest of the community. The farm remained active until 1969, when the farm was sold and developed into a recreational area. The booklet provided was compiled by Marion Vaughn, one of the original inhabitants of the farm that also served on the board of directors.
