Sartre, Jean Paul.
Scope and Contents
This file contains references to Stranger on the Square by Koestler, A & C published by Random House 1984. FB: This selection belongs in the Changing Men Collections because it details how Sartre, the grand existentialist, and supposedly the chief exponent of individual freedom in the West, was nevertheless not free in his relationship with Simone de Beauvoir. From this selection (pp. 66 – 73), one can see that she clearly had control of the domestic part of their relationship, exercising it to the point of tyranny. See file for more notes.
