Abstract
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate Pollack’s claims that boys experience a normative, forced, premature emotional separation from their mothers and develop disabling levels of emotional constriction due to the combined effects of this separation and a harsh, male socialization process…The implications of these findings for the revision of Pollack’s model, how clinicians and society view the emotional lives of boys, and future research on gender differences in attachment and alexithymia are discussed
