Abstract: This paper discusses the contemporary men’s movement and men’s emotional healing work Parallels are drawn between men’s work and the feminist theories of “standpoint” theory and “personal is political” theory. b. Byrd, M. L. In Their Own Words: Sources of Male Identity. Abstract: Purpose was to discover what dialogic frameworks shape the meaning of manhood. The author sought to understand the specific communication events, relational contexts, and/or experiences that shape who men think they are and how they define themselves… c. Charland, A. ‘Strong Men Need Strong Mothers,” From an Indigenous Worldview. Paper reviews cross cultural aspects of indigenous parent-child relationships. d. Kennedy, J. S. Gender Differences in Active Coping with Grief. Abstract: Paper focuses on men’s emotional lives, particularly limitations in the current literature on grief…which obscure gender differences,… use of active coping,… used differentially (by men and women), and in different subvarieties.
