a. Klomp, J. B. Issac Stoltzfus: Pennsylvania Dutch Gothic. This paper examines the author’s art exhibit of a fictional, homosexual Amish man. b. Sheehan, J. J. The Warrior Messiah Archetype: The Cultural Roots of European Imperialism. Abstract: This paper argues that the modern historical phenomenon of European imperialism is buttressed upon subliminal psychic promptings derives from the Jungian collective unconscious. For millennia, the primordial archetypes of human populations expressed themselves in holistic, right-brained, or “non-western” social values that differentiated one group from another. Under the aegis of the alphabet, Europeans transformed these archaic collective archetypes into cultural images that corresponded with their left-brained, evangelical, progressive or “western” social values, values, which coalesced into a particular “warrior messiah” archetype, wherein all other cultures were both “inferior” and “demonic” and which needed to be “westernized.” As a result, imperialism became a ‘sacred” duty. c. Synott, A. The War Against Men: Violent Male Deaths. Abstract: The number of violent male deaths amount to a war against men and, to a lesser degree, women also.
