Biographical / Historical
Lane Ellis Holdcroft was born in Sioux City, Iowa, September 4, 1933. He died in Washington State on July 27, 2004. He worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development (1959-1984), serving overseas in Korea, Ethiopia and the Philippines. While in Washington, D.C., he headed the USAID's Africa Bureau's Agricultural and Rural Development Division; and then its Technical Resources Office. During a year's sabbatical at Michigan State University, 1975-1976, he did graduate work in agricultural economics and was visiting scholar with the African Studies Center.
